Nakabuye Hilda Flavia

Born and raised in Kampala, Hilda has developed a deep-seated passion for environmental conservation from an early age, inspired by her upbringing in a region grappling with the adverse effects of climate change. Motivated by the pressing need to safeguard the planet for future generations, she embarked on a journey to raise awareness and catalyze action on climate issues.

Hilda is the founder of Uganda's chapter of Fridays for Future and she organized impactful demonstrations, mobilizing youth and advocating for policy reforms to mitigate the effects of climate change. In addition to her grassroots activism, Nakabuye has played a pivotal role in elevating climate discourse on the global stage. She has delivered powerful speeches at prominent events such as the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP) and has been featured in numerous media outlets, amplifying her message of urgency and action.

Beyond her advocacy work, Nakabuye is a fervent proponent of environmental education and empowerment, believing in the transformative power of knowledge and grassroots mobilization. Through workshops, seminars, and community outreach initiatives, she empowers individuals to become agents of change in their communities, fostering a sense of collective responsibility towards environmental stewardship.

With the JWH funds, Hilda has taken security and leadership training, which provided her with improved skills in public speaking, security and safety skills and organisational capacity building.

Hilda dreams of building an international self sustaining climate school in Uganda.
