Tell us about yourself: Pradeep Bhattarai from Nepal is a climate change professional and sustainability practitioner with more than 8 years of experience in Climate Change ranging across different themes, including climate finance, NDC implementation and just energy transition. He holds a degree in Environmental Management. During the period from 2011 to 2016, he actively worked with thousands of youths diligently enhancing their capacities in tackling climate challenges. He advocated for climate justice, amplifying the voices of the youth, and ensuring their inclusion in the policy-making process. Currently, he is working closely with the Government of Nepal on tracking NDC implementation and transparency-related work.

What did you do with the JWH grant? JWH grant plays a crucial role in enhancing my understanding of climate change and opening a new forum to follow the UNFCCC, and COP process. This also assists in strengthening personal capacity for advocacy skills and networking. This fund supported me in attending the Asia-Pacific Climate Change Advocacy training and UNFCCC Bangkok Session in 2018. Further, I have attended the 24th Session of the Conference of Parties (COP24).

What has the JWH grant brought you? The grant enhanced my understanding of climate change negotiations and advocacy skills. Moreover, it has expanded my network, which in turn has bolstered my advocacy efforts. Since participating in COP24, I have consistently been attending the sessions.
